Description NASA Administrator Charles Bolden joined with other NASA volunteers in helping these fifth graders become rocket scientists for day. * NASA assets continue to help scientists track two events causing worldwide environmental and economic concern. * Jet Propulsion Laboratory engineers used a helicopter to run a series of tests of the Mars Science Laboratory's landing system. * Thanks to a program at the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center, Huntsville-area students are helping scientific and community leaders make better-informed decisions about Lyme disease and how and where this chronic illness is likely to strike the local public.* A new book highlighting some of the most beautiful and awe-inspiring images captured by the Hubble Space Telescope is now available in stores and online. * Thirty-seven years ago, America's first space station, Skylab, was launched into Earth orbit from the Kennedy Space Center atop a Saturn V rocket. A ''dry,'' or empty, third stage of the rocket was completely outfitted as a workshop and laboratory.

Description More than 250 students joined with astronaut Leland Melvin and Administrator Charles Bolden at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory to help kickoff NASA's Summer of Innovation.* The launch nears for Expedition 24's three new members. Cosmonaut Fyodor Yurchikhin, and NASA astronauts Dough Wheelock and Shannon Walker are slated to liftoff on a Soyuz rocket for the International Space Station on Tuesday, June 15.* The Langley Research Center has broken ground on a new facility dedicated to bringing astronauts home safely from space. * The Marshall Space Flight Center honored the ''best of the best'' during its Honor Awards ceremony. *NASA's second Global Hawk Earth sciences aircraft has completed its first checkout flight. * The California School for the Blind is among six schools in the San Francisco Bay Area that've hosted “Space Dayâ€ activities including a Traveling Space Museum from the Ames Research Center. * The Ames Research Center turned the spotlight on NASA's collaborative “Smart Skiesâ€ project by showcasing the curriculum's software at a kick-off media event.*

Description President Barack Obama made a trip to the Kennedy Space Center on Thursday to explain his plan for America's space program. Accompanied by Florida Senator and former shuttle astronaut Bill Nelson, Apollo astronaut Buzz Aldrin, and NASA Administrator Charles Bolden, President Obama addressed an audience comprised of elected officials, leaders from industry, academia and KSC employees. * STS-125, the fifth space shuttle servicing mission that gave the Hubble Space Telescope a new lease on life, and L-CROSS, the mission that definitively proved the presence of water on the moon, received awards from the Space Foundation at its 26th annual National Space Symposium in Colorado Springs. * What do a lunar habitat module, paper that captures sound as energy, and a drug delivery system for use in space have in common? They're all concepts being developed for commercialization by high school students who competed in the Conrad Foundation's Innovation Summit. * Huntsville's U.S. Space & Rocket Center hosted the 17th annual Great Moonbuggy Race. Competing were upwards of 600 student drivers, engineers and mechanics representing more than 70 teams from 18 states, Puerto Rico, Canada, Germany, India and Romania. * The John Glenn Lecture Series at the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum in Washington honored the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 13 mission. Joining Commander Jim Lovell was Apollo 13 Flight Controller, Gene Kranz, Lunar Module Pilot, Fred Haise, and astronaut Ken Mattingly, who was replaced on the mission by the late Jack Swiegert after contracting measles just before the mission's start. * Yuri's Night 2010 celebrated humankind's achievements in space exploration with music, dance, fashion, and art at countless locations around the world, including several NASA centers.

Description The STS-132 crew completed a series of terminal countdown demonstration tests needed to ensure they and their grounds teams are prepared for their targeted May 14 launch aboard space shuttle Atlantis. * NASA Administrator Charles Bolden joined EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson for a special Memorandum of Agreement signing event at Howard Middle School situated on the campus of Howard University in Washington, DC. * To celebrate the 20th anniversary of this scientific icon, NASA has released a unique collection of Hubble images with commentary. * Operation IceBridge has entered the second phase of its spring 2010 campaign. NASA's DC-8 aircraft has returned from Greenland to the Dryden Flight Research Center in California, following a successful survey of the entire Arctic Ocean. * Weeks before ''first light'' imagery and data missions begin, NASA's Stratospheric Observatory For Infrared Astronomy was on display at the Dryden Aircraft Operations Facility in Palmdale, California. * 49 years ago, on May 5, 1961, Mercury-Redstone 3, launched a Freedom 7 spacecraft from Launch Complex 5 at Cape Canaveral, Florida.
