The clean-suited workers have just removed EURECA-1L from its shipping container. Designed and built by an international contractor team lead by the German firm MBB / ERNO, the spacecraft is scheduled for deployment from OV-104's payload bay (PLB) during STS-46. The European Space Agency (ESA) is sponsoring EURECA-1L, a free-flying reusable research platform that will be deployed and retrieved at a later date by another Shuttle crew.
