Title:
Dust storms out of Egypt
Description:
For the second day in a row, dust blew out of the Great Sand Sea and other deserts in northern Egypt, veiling the green triangle of the Nile Delta with plumes of dust. A thick plume more than 100 kilometers wide crosses the Mediterranean Sea to the north, reaching the coast of Turkey (upper right). This image was captured by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MO DIS) on NASA’s Ter ra satellite on January 30, 2005.

NASA image created by Jesse Allen, Earth Observatory, using data obtained from the MODIS Rapid Response team.
