Title:
Auroras Over Both Earth Poles
Explanation:
Auroras [ http://www.explorat…] in the north and south can be nearly mirror images of each other. Such mirroring had been suspected for centuries but dramatically confirmed [ http://eiger.physic…] only last month by detailed images from NASA [ http://www.nasa.gov/]'s orbiting Polar spacecraft [ http://www.geophys.…]. Pictured above [ http://www.gsfc.nas…], a time-lapse movie shows simultaneous changes in aurora borealis [ http://www.imv.uit.…], at the top, and aurora australis [ http://ast.leeds.ac…], at the bottom. A cloud of electrons and ions moving out from the Sun on October 22 [ http://www.spacewea…] created [ http://www.spacewea…] the auroras [ http://www-istp.gsf…]. The solar explosion [ http://antwrp.gsfc.…] that released the particles [ http://www-istp.gsf…] occurred about three days earlier.
