title:
Dust off Iran and Pakistan: Natural Hazards
description:
Dust plumes blew off the coasts of Iran and Pakistan on October 29, 2007. The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer modis.gsfc.nasa.gov (MODIS) on NASA's aqua.nasa.gov/ Aqua satellite took this picture the same day. In this image, the pale beige plumes fan out over the deep blue Arabian Sea. The plumes appear thickest along the Iran-Pakistan border, and grow thinner to the east. The air over the land surface appears largely clear, implying that these dust plumes have arisen very near the coastline. Isolated clouds hover over the water in the south.
